Thank God It’s Spring Ride Away

The Trinity Site– New Mexico

March 30 thru April 6, 2022

The first BMWDFW “Signature Ride Away” of our 50^th Anniversary season will be to the Atomic Bomb Test location, the Trinity site.

The Site is only open twice a year, once on April 2nd and again October 15th in  2022 and we will visit on the April date. Consequently this will be a rain or shine event.

We will overnight in Ruidoso the night before and leave early for the site as there are long lines of traffic for entry.

This is a military installation and entry requirements say you must show a Photo ID or Passport, Vehicle Registration, Vehicle Proof of Insurance. A Helmet and a Reflective Vest/Jacket must be worn since we are on motorcycles. No Firearms or Photo Drones are allowed.

Scheduled for this trip are additional visits to the Sun Spot Observatory, the NM Museum of Space History, the Very Large Array NM, the Gila Cliff Dwellings NM, the Morenci Mine Overlook, and the Devil’s Highway/Hwy 191 (Old Hwy 666).

I am leaving a day early on March 30th and staying at the La Quinta in Eastland TX on I-20 so I can beat DFW morning traffic and chop about a 100 miles off the long haul to Roswell NM. From Eastland on March 31. The ride starts at 8:30am. You can join me on March 30th in Eastland or you can leave from DFW early on March 31st to make 8:30am KSU from Eastland to Roswell NM. Third option is to just meet us in Roswell on March 31st.

Additional FYI: White Sands Missile Range Museum is currently closed to the public. White Sands National Monument is open to visit but closed to camping/back country.
